Top 6 Digital Marketing Tactics

The modern world of online business is extremely competitive. It can be very hard to gain an advantage if you’re not at the top of your game, which is why it’s so important to take advantage of a range of digital marketing techniques.

However, it’s not enough to simply get out there and say that you’re going to do some digital marketing. You need to understand what you’re doing, and work towards developing a clear strategy that will work for you and your business.

To help you do this, I’ve put together a list of my top six digital marketing tactics. Feel free to include them in your strategy, but make sure that you do your own research as well.

  1. Use A/B Testing

It doesn’t matter what marketing stream your targeting – it could be search engine marketing, social media marketing, Google Ads, or something else altogether – A/B testing remains essential.

Basically, A/B testing refers to the act of creating two (or more) different ad campaigns, running them concurrently, and determining which works better. Logically, you will then use the better performing campaign for the majority of your marketing efforts.

  1. SEO Blogging

If you’re willing to put a bit of time and money into blogging, you will be able to leverage both SEO and content marketing to your advantage. Think about creating high-quality, SEO optimised blogs for your website which answer common questions that your potential customers will be asking. Then, share these blogs to your social media profiles, and anywhere else possible, to encourage people to visit your site.

  1. Think About Video Marketing

The simple fact is that people don’t have a lot of time in the modern world. This means that it can be very hard to get people to sit down and read a long article. Consider leveraging video marketing instead, as people are much more likely to watch a short, interesting clip.

  1. Focus On One Social Network To Start With

You probably already know how powerful social media marketing can be. However, you have probably also fallen into the trap of trying to build a presence on too many different platforms. I’d actually recommend focusing on one, or maybe two, social networks to start with. Build a strong presence on them, and then expand to other platforms.

  1. Think About Podcasting


If you’re a particularly creative person, podcasting can be a great way to advertise your business and the services that you offer. It’s particularly useful for content-based websites which rely on large numbers of visitors to generate a profit.

  1. Don’t Neglect Email Marketing

In my opinion, every business website should include some sort of signup option that allows people to subscribe to your mailing list. Once you’ve gained a decent number of subscribers, you can start sending regular marketing emails.

Final Word

Digital marketing is difficult, but don’t get discouraged if you don’t succeed at first. Take note of the tactics I’ve outlined above, do some research, and make sure that you develop a clear marketing strategy that includes a range of different techniques. Success will come.
